Timeless fundamentals for a world with AGI.
Scientific temperament. First principles. Real power over mass and energy — still worth knowing when work-for-money fades.
How we teach
Socratic guidance plus Concept Development Studies. You reconstruct the model; we do not hand you a theorem to memorise.
Socratic delivery
Lessons guide with questions. The learner reasons aloud, outlines, and explains until they can reconstruct the model themselves. Ability to explain beats solving a formula problem by rote.
Concept Development Study
Pattern inspired by John S. Hutchinson’s Concept Development Studies in Chemistry (Connexions / Rice, CC BY 2.0). Each lesson follows the same arc:
-
1
Foundation
State the assumed knowledge clearly — what we already take as given before this lesson begins.
-
2
Questions that arise
From the Foundation, name the questions that naturally follow. Curiosity is the engine, not a syllabus checklist.
-
3
Observations & deductions
Work from observations and logical deductions — not memorised facts. Prefer evidence you could check.
-
4
Further questions → refine
New questions refine the picture until a model answers them. Iterate; do not leap to a final answer.
-
5
Models, not proven theorems
Models explain; they are not proven theorems. Prefer the simplest explanation that fits (Occam).
-
6
Study by reasoning
Outline, explain, reconstruct. Do not memorise. If you can teach the model back, you own it.
What we study
Each theme is a Concept Development Study arc — foundation, questions, observations, model — not a chapter of facts to cram. For a one-page view of what the themes let you do, from heating and cooling to holding acid and guiding people, see the Control map.

01
How to know
See clearly. Test hard. Fail usefully. Prefer evidence over authority — and treat “I don’t know” as strength.
Lesson 1 · Seeing vs believing → Lesson 2 · Falsifiability → Lesson 3 · Choosing your questions → All lessons -
02
First principles
Strip problems to what is true. Rebuild from axioms. Separate nature’s limits from culture’s habits — including jobs and money.
Lesson 1 · Strip it to what is true → Lesson 2 · Frame the problem, then invent → All lessons Skills · TRIZ refresher -
03
Matter & mass
Mass is conserved. Structure decides strength. Stuff still limits what any intelligence can do. Treat mass as a hard budget.
-
04
Energy
Energy changes form, does work, leaks as heat. Every action has an energy bill. Read the bill before you act.
-
05
Power
Power is energy per time. Watts and duration decide what moves. Ask “how many watts, for how long?” before “is it a good idea?”
-
06
Thermodynamics
Entropy rises unless you pay. Engines and fridges hit hard ceilings. No intelligence rewrites those walls — design inside them.
-
07
Fields & forces
Gravity, electromagnetism, and pressure move mass. Force through distance is work. Choose the force; move matter on purpose.
-
08
Information & measurement
Units, error, signal, noise. Measure enough to act. Defend every decision with numbers you could check.
-
09
Systems & feedback
Stocks, flows, loops, delays. Systems overshoot or stabilize by design. Build feedback that keeps outcomes alive under stress.

Agency without wages
When survival work fades, contribution remains. Tokens can coordinate — physics still binds. Use mass and energy literacy for shared power, not domination.
